Pushing 60: Forever A Gen XER

💜 Hello From My Heart💜

I'm a Gen XER for life :)

I'm a Latch Key 70's Kid, teen-aged lover of 80's Rock-N-Roll and New Wave

.. Now I'm pushing 60 years old.

No matter how much things have changed or how old I get, i'll forever be a Gen XER 😊

So, what does it mean to be a Gen XER?

In my opinion, a Gen XER is someone born from the 60's and 70's.

We grew up feral, had been left to our own devices and learned to adapt and overcome.

We lived dangerously...

Drank from a water hose

Grew up with the best Rock N Roll.

Stayed and played outside till it got dark

...or until our moms called us in for dinner.

These were the best of times.

Long before present day worrying about being kidnapped for human trafficking or school mass shootings.

For me, the 70's & 80's was the most safe time to be a kid back then.

The times sure have changed.

Now everything seems so surreal.

I'm so grateful I had grown up in an era where things were more sane.

I'm also grateful for growing up a feral,

latch key kid.

This taught me to

be responsible for myself at an early age.

Long Live Our Gen XERS!

We grew up in the best of times.

Speaking of...

Styx sang "The Best Of Times" in 1981 off their album Paradise.

Take a listen here:

For me, it's timeless and relatable now.

The headlines read :

"These are the worst of times

I do believe it's true

I feel so helpless like a boat against the tide

I wish this summer wind could bring back Paradise"

Even in this socially, politically and surreallistic present time,

I think back to this song and remember the lyrics.

Even when times get rough, we still have each other to lean on.

Yeah, that's the ticket!

Much Love,

Sue
