💜 Hello From My Heart💜
I've lived with PTSD from drama/trauma since I was a kid. This has manifested in clutter both mentally as daytime depression/night time anxiety and physically as being overweight along with many boxes of crappola I didn't need and piles of papers stacked up, not to mention self-soothing by eating and working way too much, a.k.a. avoidance.
...It was a lot to deal with but with time, patience and most of all, perseverance I was able to conquer this all by facing the trauma, feeling this
and finally releasing it.

I couldn't believe all of the useless paperwork I kept as well as all of the other stuff that I was emotionally tied to.
I've been managing this better thanks to a few influences.
In the beginning of understanding my condition,
I found The Fly Lady.
The Fly Lady is Marla Cilley and Fly stands for:
Finally
Loving
Yourself
That's what got to me.
For so long
I didn't know how to.
Because of the Codependency issues I had that started as a kid, taking care of others and forgetting about my needs made me too emotionally and physically unable to care for myself.
The first thing Marla teaches is how to take care of ourselves by cleaning our kitchen sink.
Clean up the dishes and then sanitize the sink with a little bleach.
Organize your cleaners and other items around the sink.
That's a start. Once you do this, you will feel better and continue to other areas in your home.
I also loved the fact that Marla's Fly Lady logo was a caricature of her with purple butterfly wings.
I've always loved purple butterflies as they represent transformation.

The Fly Lady's books are great resources for clearing both house and body clutter.

Another lady I consider a mentor in clearing clutter and all things spiritual is Denise Linn.
Denise has a book about clearing emotional and physical clutter as well as blessing the rooms you clear out.

In the books Put That Stuff Down 1 &2 delves into the relationship between PTSD and clutter.

I found out for myself that cleaning small areas add up over time and seeing the progress I had made gave me enough incentive to do more.
I had seen a YouTube video of
Admiral William H. McRaven
(U.S. Navy Retired)
titled "Make Your Bed"
In this video and book below, the Admiral says to start out your day by making your bed as this leads to doing other small and eventually, bigger tasks.

The link below is direct access to this very inspirational video by the Admiral:
Since seeing this video the very first thing I do every day is make the bed.
I've been getting a lot done ever since.
...One task at a time
I've earned my purple butterfly wings and learned to FLY (finally loving myself)
With Love,
Your FLY Girl
Sue
